MSM Review – Understanding This Unique Health Supplement

If you’re shopping for MSM, you’re probably aware of the many positive effects of this supplement.   This is why it’s important you know what to consider before buying MSM and how to ensure the purity of your choice supplement.

Unfortunately for the consumer, many companies claim to sell 100% MSM but this claim is often false.  On the positive, there is a very basic test you can perform to ensure the purity and quality of your MSM product.  Understanding the process of getting MSM from its purest natural form to the bottled supplement you’re familiar with will help you identify a better product.

MSM is manufactured through the process of chemically fusing dimethyl sulfoxide and hydrogen peroxide.  The resulting substance is then purified using one of two possible methods, crystallization or distillation.

Crystallization is a cheaper purification method that requires water.  This method is typically used by supplement companies that are manufacturing MSM in China and India, where quality of sanitation and water treatment can be lacking.  As a result, the MSM then becomes contaminated through the purification process, sometimes being exposed to heavy metals, chlorinated hydrocarbons and other toxic substances.

Distillation is a more costly purification process that uses heat rather than water to purify the MSM.  The resulting supplement is regarded as higher quality without the risk of liquid carried contaminates.

This is why you want to consider the price and manufacturing location to ensure you’re buying a superior MSM supplement.

When it comes to testing the purity of your MSM, all you need is a glass of warm water.  Simply drop a small amount of MSM powder or crystal into the glass.  If the supplement dissolves quickly on its own, or if it falls to the bottom of the glass, this means the MSM is pure.  If the supplement floats on the surface of the water, this means the MSM is impure, and may contain filler ingredients or containments.

When buying MSM or any supplement, always do you research and ensure you are getting a quality product.  Buying pure MSM means you’re more likely to experience the intended benefits without worrying about any unwanted results or side effects from contaminates.
